hackOS (GMTK-2026)
You're inside a city's surveillance network. Traffic grids, ATM clusters, the central bank — every piece of infrastructure is a node you can plant malware on, and each one pays you for as long as you hold it.
Taking one means breaking a hidden code before the clock hits zero. Feedback comes back as pegs: right symbol right slot, right symbol wrong slot. They're unordered — that ambiguity is the puzzle.
The countdown is a resource, not a limit. Every guess costs two seconds, deducted the moment you commit. Brute force has a price. Thinking is cheaper.
Credits buy tools, tools buy seconds, seconds buy bigger targets. But money never buys you a node — tiers unlock by owning nodes, not by having cash, so every expansion is earned live, under a clock.
Fail and you lose nothing but access: thirty seconds locked out, the code revealed, and one line telling you what actually went wrong.
